I am member of Station L with over 35 years experience in the composites industry, and I have been doing rowing shell and oar repairs for the local clubs and private boat owners since 2014. My customers include Elite Rowing/Filippi NW, Vespoli USA, Station L Rowing Club, Rose City Rowing Club, Lake Oswego Community Rowing, Vancouver Lake Rowing Club, Lewis and Clark College, Pacific University, University of Portland, Willamette Rowing Club, Oregon Rowing Unlimited, and many private rowing shell, canoe, and kayak owners.
I have a small trailer and can pick up and deliver boats up to 4+. My shop is located just North of Portland in Ridgefield, WA but I also do on-site repairs.

“For the past ten years Phil Volz and Boatworks Northwest has been our exclusive boat repair vendor—for repairs large and small to our fleet of 60+ boats.
Phil’s expertise includes the ability to precisely match almost any paint color and finish plus a wide knowledge of composite materials so that the best structural repair techniques can be applied to each specific job.
As a rower, Phil knows the need for clubs to have certain timelines and boats that come back looking new. Phil is a known quantity to our insurance company and I rest easy knowing that the inevitable boat damage can almost always be repaired.”
—Peter Edwards, Executive Director, Station L Rowing Club
'Phil’s work is simply top-notch. He’s my go to guy for any challenging repair and has fixed a number of boats for me to a ‘looks new’ standard- including getting the paint match right! Yes, there are less expensive options, but you get what you pay for. If you’re hoping to restore both performance and resale value Phil’s experience and craftsmanship can’t be beat.’
